Shawdesh Desk:The installation of the 18th span of the much-hyped Padma Bridge has been installed at the Jajira point of the bridge.

After the installation this morning (Wednesday), some 2,700 meters of the bridge has become visible.

Humayun Kabir, an engineer of Padma Multipurpose Bridge, said with the installation of the 18th span at Mawa point, 2,700 metres of the main structure of this mega bridge becomes visible.
The 150-meter 3-E span was carried near pillar no 17-18 at Jajira point from Mawa construction yard-1 through the floated Tian-E crane.

Earlier, on November 26, the 17th span of the bridge was installed, making 2.55 km of the bridge visible.

The construction work of railway and road over the bridge is going on in full swing.

Construction work of 33 pillars out of 42 has been completed while construction work of the much talked 7th pillar will end by this month.

Construction work of the 6th and 30th pillars would be completed by December 10 next while remaining pillars no 8, 10, 11, 26, 27 and 29 would be built by March, 2020.

According to the project details, the construction of the 6.15 kilometre long Padma Bridge is going on in full swing with the target to complete it as soon as possible.
On October 14, 2018, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the name plaque of Padma Bridge Toll Plaza at the Mawa end.

The first span of the Padma Bridge was installed on September 30, 2017.
